I don’t know about you, but it feels like I’m hardly out of my jeans these days ????. With no business meetings to attend it’s tempting to stay in my PJs all day but that really is the slippery slope ????. At least by putting my jeans on I feel like I’ve made an effort. Jeans are such a versatile piece, a real wardrobe staple to be dressed up with a smart blouse or down with a cosy jumper depending on your mood.
I often hear women comment that they can’t wear jeans, they’re either feel they are too old, or they can’t get them to fit properly. Well my mum is nearly 80 and still rocking hers, so age really isn’t an issue. Getting the right fit is important as is wearing the right style of jeans for your body shape. Nowadays it’s hard to find a pair that don’t have stretch but if you’ve found them stiff and restricting in the past, make sure you pick a pair with at least 3% elastane. They’ll have plenty of give and will feel super comfy.
So which jeans are perfect for your body shape?
- For Apple shapes you’ll probably find a mid rise most comfortable. Your best style is definitely a straight leg to show off your fantastic legs.
- The Hourglasses amongst you should try a high rise cut as they are designed to curve in at the waist. Boot cut will show off your curves or go for a skinny with knee length boots.
- Inverted Triangle shapes should look to add some volume on your lower half to create balance with your top half. For this the looser fit boyfriend cut are the perfect option.
- If you’re Pear shaped, a boot cut jean is perfect for you. With curvy hips and thighs this cut creates proportion and looks super stylish.
- If your shape is Rectangle, you should try a low to mid rise style as they’ll be most comfy. To add some curves try a boot cut or, to keep it super slim and elegant, go for a straight leg.
My top tips for jeans shopping (when the world returns to normal! ????) is to invest the time! Jeans are such a key piece of your wardrobe, take the time to get it right. Try on lots of different brands and cuts to find the one that fits your shape. Try on different colours to discover the look you want to create. Black, indigo and dark grey will look smarter and be more sliming. Faded blues and light colours along with rips create a more casual look and will draw the eye.
Perfect jean and boot combos for a balanced silhouette
